yay. f'ing blizzard.
Been away for a week and come back to find out that my account is hacked. The thing that pisses me off (aside from losing 5k gold and all my gear) is that they are telling me that something is wrong on my end.
Ok....
I am a network engineer. I know phishing when I see it and so it is easy to avoid. I play wow on a dedicated gaming machine. I dont even do web browsing there. I have a full antivirus and antispam solution on it which is active and current. We are behind a solid firewall.
A full system scan revealed nothing (of course) yet they insist that there is a breach on my end. I asked them how I keep getting email spam to my mail account considering I have never once put in subscription info anywhere other than the official WoW site the first time I set up the account, and then into the game client window...yet somehow spammers seem to know my email address and that it is associated with a WoW account. But it couldnt POSSIBLY be that someone at Blizzard screwed the pooch and leaked out personal info....
Anyway, the meatheads at Blizzard tell me that it will be 10-14 days before they can get to restoring my items to make me viable for raiding again so I guess I will see you all once they get this mess straightened out.
